The author is interested in real numbers whose continued fraction expansions obey some constraints. She studies for example the Hausdorff dimension of the set of real numbers -- or the density of the set of quadratic irrational numbers -- whose continued fraction expansions satisfy fixed constraints. In the case of these quadratic irrational numbers, she also studies quantities like the average length of the period of the continued fraction expansion, and the average value of Lévy's constant. The main tool is the use of constrained Ruelle-Mayer operators. Note that reference [Sh] should probably be replaced by [\textit{J. Shallit}, Enseign. Math. (2) 38, 151-187 (1992; Zbl 0753.11006)].
