Let \(\left(\begin{smallmatrix} n \\ m\end{smallmatrix}\right) ^{m/2} U^ m_ n(f)\) be the canonical \(U\)-process indexed by a collection \(\mathcal F\) of canonical kernels \(f\). It is shown that if the canonical \(U\)-process converges weakly, then its law is the law of a chaos process which has bounded and \(\| \cdot \|_ 2\)-uniformly continuous paths. A similar assertion holds for \(U\)-statistics with values in a separable Banach space. It is also shown that for a given separable Banach space \(B\), the normalized \(U\)-statistics over any \(B\)-valued kernel \(h\) with \(E\| h\|^ 2 < \infty\) converges weakly if and only if \(B\) is of type 2.
