Let \(C\) be a smooth projective irreducible algebraic curve over \(\mathbb{C}\) of any genus and \(G\) a connected simply-connected simple affine algebraic group over \(\mathbb{C}\). In this paper we prove that the space of vacua (also called ``conformal blocks''; defined in conformal field theory using an integrable highest weight representation of the affine Kac-Moody algebra associated to \(G)\) is canonically isomorphic with the space of regular sections (``generalised theta functions'') of a (determinant) line bundle on the moduli space \({\mathfrak M}\) of semistable principal \(G\)-bundles on \(C\).
