Let \(X\) be a complex algebraic variety admitting a holomorphic symplectic 2-form \(\alpha\). A Lagrangian fibration \(f:X\to B\) is a morphism whose generic fibre is Lagrangian. In the paper the situation when \(X\to B\) is a compactified Jacobian of a family of curves of genus 2 is studied. It is shown that in this case the projective plane is the only possible base space \(B\) and the underlying family of curves can be identified with the linear system of hyperelliptic curves of genus 2 on a \(K3\) surface of degree 2.
