Let \(X\) be a paracompact space with \(\dim X\leq n\), \(Y\) a completely metrizable space, \(\phi: X\to{\mathcal F}(Y)\) a lower semi-continuous mapping and \(\psi: X\to{\mathcal P}(Y)\) a mapping with an \(F_\sigma\)-graph. \({\mathcal S}e\ell(\phi)\) is the set of all maps \(f: X\to Y\) such that \(f(x)\in\phi(x)\) for every \(x\in X\) with the fine topology. The main result give sufficient conditions on \(\phi\) and \(\psi\) for \(\{f\in{\mathcal S}e\ell(\phi): f(x)\not\in \psi(x)\) for every \(x\in X\}\) to be a dense \(G_\delta\)-set of \({\mathcal S}e\ell(\phi)\). Applications of the paper's selection theorems to dimension theory include a generalization of \textit{P. A. Ostrand's} theorem [General Topology Appl. 1, 209--221 (1971; Zbl 0232.54044)] to strongly countable dimensional spaces and an alternative proof of the Hurewicz formula \(\dim X\leq\dim f+\dim Y\) for a closed map \(f: X\to Y\) from a normal onto a paracompact space.
