Die vierte Wurzel aus \(a\pm\sqrt b\) läßt sich in die Summe (Differenz) zweier Quadratwurzeln umwandeln, wenn \(a^2-b\) eine vierte Potenz \(k^4\) und \(2(a+k^2)\) ein Quadrat ist, z. B. \[ \root 4 \of{79\pm 16 \sqrt{15}}=\frac 12 (\sqrt{30}\pm \sqrt 2). \]
