Der Verf. beweist den folgenden Satz: Die Linie, welche \(n-1\) Ebenen im \(n\)-dimensionalen Raume gemeinsam haben, durchsetzt eine gegebene quadratische Oberfläche desselben Raumes in Punkten, die reell, zusammenfallend oder imaginär sind, je nachdem \((-1)^{h+1}.H\) positiv, Null oder negativ ist, wo \(h\) die Anzahl negativer Terme ist, die in der Gleichung der Oberfläche erscheinen, wenn dieselbe auf die algebraische Summe von Quadraten gebracht wird, und wo \(H\) die Combinante der Oberfläche und der Ebenen bezeichnet. Anwendungen für \(n=2,3,4,5\).
