Auf die Behandlung der Aufgabe \(A\cdot 3^x\equiv b\) (mod. \(P\)) folgt die Bestimmung einiger Werthe \(\bigl(\frac{q}{p}\bigr)\), wie \(\bigl(\frac{2}{p}\bigr)=(-1)^{E(\frac{p+1}{4})}, \bigl(\frac{3}{p}\bigr)=(-1)^{E(\frac{p+1}{6})}\), sowie eine Reihe von Sätzen, deren Charakter dem der hier folgenden durchaus gleich ist. Sind \(p=24n+5\) und \(\frac{p-1}{4}\) Primzahlen, so ist 3 eine primitive Wurzel von \(p.\) -- Sind \(p=12n+11\) und \(\frac{p-1}{2}\) Primzahlen, so ist \(p-3\) eine primitive Wurzel von \(p.\) -- Sind \(p=8an+2a-1\) und \(\frac{p-1}{4}\) Primzahlen und \(a^{2}+1\) durch \(p\) nicht theilbar, so ist \(a\) eine primitive Wurzel von \(p.\) -- Sind \(p=8an+a-2\) und \(\frac{p-1}{4}\) Primzahlen, und \(a^{2}+1\) durch \(p\) nicht theilbar, so ist \(a\) eine primitive Wurzel von \(p\).
