Corrado Segre (1863-1924) was the founder of the Italian school of algebraic geometry, whose members include Castelnuovo, Severi, Enriques and Fano. He taught at the University of Turin, where he held the chair of advanced geometry, from 1888 until 1924. He was a renowned and devoted teacher, who each year prepared a new course of lectures on modern geometry. The lectures were written in advance each summer, in little notebooks which have been preserved in the Manuscript Section of the ``G. Peano'' Library of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Turin. The article under review draws attention to the existence of these notebooks, which number 37 volumes of lectures, together with three miscellaneous related volumes. The titles of each set of lectures, together with their years of delivery, are listed in the article. The notebooks will clearly serve as a valuable resource for anyone wishing to study the early development of algebraic geometry, especially the contributions made by Segre, whose working methods and individual development are fully displayed.
