Let \(W^{p,\omega}_{q,\sigma}\), \(1<p<\infty\), \(-1<\omega <\infty\), denote the collection of all entire functions f of exponential type \(\sigma\) and order q with norm \(\| f\|_{p,\omega}=(\int^{\infty}_{0}| f(x)| \quad p| x|^{\pi}dx)^{1/p}<\infty.\quad\) The authors investigate the possibility of characterizing functions \(f\in W^{p,\omega}_{q,\sigma}\) in terms of series involving an orthogonal sequence of functions, in a manner similar to the representation for Fourier series. A large number of results are established, of which the following is typical. Theorem: For \(\sigma >0\), \(1<p<\infty\), and \(- 1<\omega <\infty\), there exists a one-to-one continuous mapping of the space of all sequences \(\{c_ k:1\leq k\leq \infty \}\) onto the space \(W^{p,\omega}_{,\sigma}\). The results include representation type theorems, theorems on the orthogonality of certain families of functions, and results on interpolation of functions in the class \(W^{p,\omega}_{,\sigma}\) on certain selected sequences of points.
