Global existence and uniqueness is proven for solutions of nonconcave hyperbolic equations with relaxation. One of the characteristic fields is neither linearly degenerated nor genuinely nonlinear and there is no dissipation in the relaxation system. It is shown that a solution exists in the zero relaxation limit and is the entropy solution of the equilibrium equation.
