Besides corrections to errors found in the first edition of this textbook (see the review in Zbl 0990.94001), which can be downloaded from the publisher's web page (http://www.springer.de) or from the new web page for the book (http://hometown.aol.de/uwemeyerbaese/index.html), this second edition provides new material on the design of serial and array dividers, the description of a complete floating-point library, and adaptive filter design. Over 25 additional exercises as compared to the first edition are also included in the book. It is worth noting that there are two appendices on the Verilog source code, namely VHDL and Verilog coding, and furthermore a glossary of the abbreviations typical in the field are provided.
