The authors give a classification of the irreducible representations of the simple vertex operator algebra associated with the affine Lie algebra \(A_1^{(1)}\) with so-called ``admissible'' rational levels. They prove that such representations are exactly given by the modular representations for \(A^{(1)}_1\). The authors use \textit{Y. Zhu}'s associative algebra associated with a vertex operator algebra [J. Am. Math. Soc. 9, 237-302 (1996)]. Vertex operator algebras associated with affine Lie algebras with arbitrary levels were constructed by \textit{I. B. Frenkel} and \textit{Y. Zhu} [Duke Math. J. 66, 123-168 (1992; Zbl 0848.17034)]. The irreducible representations of such algebras with positive integral levels were mathematically classified by Frenkel-Zhu and also by \textit{C. Dong} and \textit{J. Lepowsky} [Generalized vertex algebras and relative vertex operators, Prog. Math. 112, Birkhäuser, Boston (1993; Zbl 0803.17009)].
