The author performs a very careful analysis of numerical instabilities which occur when fluid interfaces are estimated. He first establishes the well-posedness of the linearized motion far from equilibrium using the properties of the singular integral operators defined on the free interfaces. These considerations provide the ideas for numerical analysis of the discrete system. The main result refers to a compatibility condition between the discrete singular operators and the discrete derivative operators. This way the numerical instabilities are distinguished from the physical instabilities and moreover they are eliminated.
