Every concordance class of classical knots contains a prime satellite knot and a hyperbolic knot (necessarily prime). The paper under review proves that the same is true in the case of knots in thickened surfaces. Specifically, Theorems A and B state that every virtual knot is concordant to a prime satellite virtual knot, and a prime hyperbolic virtual knot, respectively. (Note that hyperbolic virtual knots are not necessarily prime.) Theorem C presents stronger versions of these results for almost classical virtual knots (those that possess a homologically trivial representative).
