The present paper aims to study eigenvalues of compactly perturbed operators on Banach spaces. Let \(A\) be a bounded operator and \(K\) be a compact operator. For given \(s>0\), let \(n_{A+K} (s)\) denote the number of discrete eigenvalues of \(A+K\) lying in \(|z|>s\) (counting algebraic multiplicities). Here, discrete eigenvalues mean isolated eigenvalues of finite algebraic multiplicity. When the perturbing operator is an element of a weak entropy number ideal, the author derives new estimates for \(n_{A+K}(s)\) by virtue of some numerical invariants induced by \(A\) and \(K\). The results obtained in this paper improve upon earlier results by the author [Math. Nachr. 289, No. 13, 1606--1625 (2016; Zbl 1356.47004)] and by \textit{M. Demuth} et al. [J. Funct. Anal. 268, No. 4, 1032--1052 (2015; Zbl 1310.47015)], and the proofs rely on an inequality of \textit{B. Carl} [J. Funct. Anal. 41, 290--306 (1981; Zbl 0466.41008)] instead of tools from complex analysis.
