The 2D Navier-Stokes equations with an external ``force'' term \(g\) depending on the time derivative of the velocity are studied. The function \(g\) is satisfying some properties (measurable and Lipschitz) and two particular useful examples are given. The main point is to analyze the large time behavior of solutions near a stationary solution. The main tools are: the Lax-Milgram and Schauder theorems, the Gagliardo-Nirenberg interpolation inequality, and a Gronwall-like lemma proved in [\textit{H. Chen}, Proc. Indian Acad. Sci., Math. Sci. 122, No. 2, 283--295 (2012; Zbl 1255.60104)]. Some existing results in the field are improved, due to an abstract functional formulation describing a large variety of delays.
