Let \(\mathbb{D}\) be the unit disk. Let \(H(\mathbb{D})\) denote the space of all holomorphic functions on \(\mathbb{D}\) endowed with the usual compact open topology and \(\mathcal{S}(\mathbb{D})\) the set of all holomorphic self-maps of \(\mathbb{D}\). For a function \(\varphi\in \mathcal{S}(\mathbb{D})\), a composition operator \(C_{\varphi}\) is defined by \(C_{\varphi}:= f \circ \varphi\), \(f\in H(\mathbb{D})\). In this paper, the author deals with uniform convergence, strong convergence, weak convergence, and ergodicity of the iterates of composition operators \(C_{\varphi}\) on various Banach spaces of holomorphic functions on the unit disk, such as Bergman spaces \(A^{p}_{\alpha}\), Dirichlet spaces \(\mathcal{D}^{p}_{\alpha}\), weighted Banach spaces with sup-norm\(H_{v}\), and weighted Bloch spaces \(\mathcal{B}_{v}\). The sequence \(C_{\varphi_n}\) induced by an elliptic automorphism is defined. The author proves that \(C_{\varphi_n}\) does not converge in the weak operator topology (WOT), \(C_{\varphi}\) is always mean ergodic, and it is uniformly mean ergodic if and only if \(\varphi\) is of finite order \(k\). Then, the author studies the behavior of the sequence \(C_{\varphi_n}\) when the Denjoy-Wolff point of \(\varphi\) is in the unit disk \(\mathbb{D}\). The author is interested in the uniform mean ergodicity of the operator \(C_{\varphi}\) associated to an inner function \(\varphi\). Let \(p\geq 1\) and \(\varphi\in \mathcal{S}(\mathbb{D})\) with Denjoy-Wolff point 0. In this case, the author proves that, if \(\varphi\) is inner, then \(C_{\varphi}\) is not uniformly mean ergodic on Hardy spaces \(H^{p}\). Let \(\alpha> 1\), \(p\geq 1\) and \(\varphi\in \mathcal{S}(\mathbb{D})\) with Denjoy-Wolff point 0. In this case, the author proves that the sequence \(C_{\varphi_n}\) converges to \(C_0\) in \(\mathcal{L}(A^{p}_{\alpha})\), where \(\mathcal{L}(A^{p}_{\alpha})\) is the space of bounded linear operators on \(A^{p}_{\alpha}\). Also, the author proves that, if \(C_{\varphi}\) is power bounded on \(\mathcal{D}^{p}_{\gamma}\) for some number \(\gamma \in (-1, \alpha)\), then the sequence \(C_{\varphi_n}\) converges to \(C_0\) in \(\mathcal{L}(\mathcal{D}^{p}_{\alpha})\). Under given conditions, the author proves that the sequence \(C_{\varphi_n}\) converges to \(C_0\) in \(\mathcal{L}(H_{v})\). In the last section, the author proves that the operator \(C_{\varphi}\) is not mean ergodic on the above spaces.
