The author studies a Schrödinger-Poisson equation with a nonlinearity in the critical growth. By using variational methods, the existence of ground state solutions and nodal solutions is obtained in the critical case. The critical exponential growth makes the problem complicated due to the lack of compactness. More important, since the coefficients of the considered equation are not radial symmetric, it is not possible to work in the radial symmetric space. Then, the author investigates the influence of the interaction of the coefficients on the existence of ground state solutions. He also considers the existence of nodal solutions for the Schrödinger-Poisson equation. Let us point out that the treated problem is rather different from that of the note by \textit{L. Huang} et al. [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 408, No. 1, 55--69 (2013; Zbl 1310.35093)], because in the present paper a different interesting method to deal with the problem is used.
