Scalar Perona-Malik equation and vectorial Perona-Malik equation into unit sphere are investigated in this paper. Especially vectorial equation is now of great interest because of describing multivalued images, their denoising, edge enhancement and segmentation. Numerical scheme based on finite element method in space is presented also for vectorial Perona-Malik equation. Brief overview of recent results concerning Perona-Malik equation, the existence and regularity of it's solution and numerical schemes with convergence and error estimates are presented in the first part of the paper. Then stability results for both, scalar and vectorial numerical solutions of proposed problems are derived. Finally, several numerical experiments for scalar and vectorial Perona-Malik problem is computed. For scalar problem the theoretical results that approximation scheme guarantees decreasing energy is confirmed. Numerical computations for vectorial problem using proposed approximation scheme show that evolved edges/structures are preserved for a long time.
