Two-dimensional splines based on a Powell-Sabin triangulation of a surface are used for spline smoothing in this paper. The spline is computed by minimising energy, i.e. the semi-norms of integrals of second order partial derivatives. The convergence of these splines when the uniform data become dense is also established. Several numerical examples are presented.
