Let \(\mathcal{F}\) be a saturated fusion system over a \(p\) group \(S\), as defined by [\textit{C. Broto, R. Levi} and \textit{B. Oliver}, J. Am. Math. Soc. 16, 779--856 (2003; Zbl 1033.55010)]. The author constructs a classifying spectrum, \(\mathbb{B}\mathcal{F}\), for \(\mathcal{F}\). This classifying spectrum comes with a structure map \(\sigma_{\mathcal{F}}:\Sigma^{\infty}BS\to \mathbb{B}\mathcal{F}\) and has the property that one recovers the fusion system by taking \[ Hom_{\mathcal{F}}(P,Q)=\{\varphi\hom(P,Q)\mid \sigma_{\mathcal{F}}\Sigma^{\infty}B\iota_{Q}\Sigma^{\infty}B\varphi\simeq \sigma_{\mathcal{F}}\Sigma^{\infty}B\iota_{P}\} \] where \(\iota_{P}\) and \(\iota_{Q}\) denote the inclusions of the subgroups \(P\) and \(Q\) in \(S\). The author describes the group of homotopy classes between two classifying spectra \(\mathbb{B}\mathcal{F}_1\) and \(\mathbb{B}\mathcal{F}_{2}\) as a free \(\mathbb{Z}_{p}^{\wedge}\)-module with a specific basis. This approach allows the author to prove the existence of \textit{transfer} maps \(tr_{\gamma}: \Sigma^{\infty}BS_{2}\to \Sigma^{\infty}BS_{1}\) for monomorphisms \(\gamma:S_{1}\to S_{2}\) which restrict to maps of classifying spectra that preserve transfer maps when \(\gamma\) is fusion-preserving.
