A locally pseudoconvex algebra \(A\) is a real or complex topological algebra whose topology is given by means of a family \(({\|\cdot\|})\) of \(p\)-homogeneous seminorms (\(\|\alpha x\|=|\alpha|^p\|x\|\), \(0<p\leq 1\) depending upon \({\|\cdot\|}\)). It is called locally $m$-pseudoconvex if the seminorms \({\|\cdot\|}\) are submultiplicative (\(\|xy\|\leq \|x\| \|y\|$, $x,y\in A\)). The main result of the paper states that, if \(A\) is locally pseudoconvex with jointly continuous multiplication, then it is $m$-pseudoconvex, provided it has a closed two-sided ideal \(I\) such that both \(I\) and \(A/I\) are locally $m$-pseudoconvex.
