The authors investigate the existence of complete minimal surfaces embedded in hyperbolic space \(H^3\) with prescribed topological and isotopic type. They prove the following result. Let \(M\) be a compact orientable surface with boundary. Then \(\{\overset\circ M\}\) can be minimally, completely, properly and stably embedded in \(H^3.\) Furthermore, the embedding extends \(C^\infty\)-regularly to an embedding from \(M\) into \(\overline{H}^3\). They also prove other related results.
