At the last years the \(XXZ\) spin chains in massive regime were studied for the models related to the space of states identified with some \(U_q(A_1^{(1)})\)-module and with Hamiltonian commuting with the actions of \(U_q(A_n^{(1)})\). Similarly, the spin chains and models related to the vector representation of \(U_q(B_n^{(1)})\) and \(U_q(D_n^{(1)})\) were considered [see, for example, the paper of \textit{B. Davies} and \textit{M. Okado}, Int. J. Mod. Phys. A, 11, 1975-2017 (1996; Zbl 1044.82533)]. In the paper under review the model related with the spin representation of \(U_q(D_n^{(1)})\) is studied. Statement of the physical model. Consider one dimensional quantum spin chain constructed from the spin representation of \(U_q(D_n^{(1)})\). Denote by \(V_k^{(n)}\) a copy of spin representation. The Hamiltonian acts on the space of the infinite tensor product \[ \ldots\otimes V_{k+1}^{(n)}\otimes V_k^{(n)}\otimes V_{k-1}^{(n)}\ldots \] for \(k \in \mathbb Z\). Let \(R(z)\) be the operator of the \(R\)-matrix \[ R(z_1/z_2): V_{z_1}^{(n)}\otimes V_{z_2}^{(n)} \to V_{z_1}^{(n)}\otimes V_{z_2}^{(n)} \] and \[ h=-(q-q^{-1})z\frac{d}{dz}\text{P}R(z)|_{z=1} \] where P denotes the transposition. The Hamiltonian has the form \[ \mathcal H=\sum_{k \in \mathbb{Z}}h_{k+1,k}, \qquad h_{k+1,k}=\ldots\otimes id_{V_{k+2}^{(n)}}\otimes id_{V_{k-1}^{(n)}}\otimes\ldots \] where \(h_{k+1,k}\) acts non-trivially on the \((k+1)\)-th and the \(k\)-th component. The statement of the problem in quantum symmetric approach. Consider the space of states as \(U_q(D_n^{(1)}\))-module. Using the vertex operators associated to \(U_q(D_n^{(1)})\)-modules \(V_z^{(k)}\) construct the transfer-matrix and creation (annihilation) operators. The following representations could be considered: vector, fusion and spin representations. The structure of the paper. In sec. 2 the author gives the definition of the quantum affine algebra \(U_q(D_n^{(1)})\) and obtains the spin representation of \(U_q(D_n^{(1)})\) and its \(R\)-matrices. Using these \(R\)-matrices, the author defines the fusion representation and then the \(R\)-matrices corresponding to these representation. Further, the vertex operators for the modules constructed in the previous sections and two-point correlations functions are presented and the commutation relations of vertex operators are obtained. In conclusion the author gives the formulation of the model.
