This paper is concerned with the standard Galerkin finite element and a recent modification of it, the stabilized Galerkin method for a reaction diffusion problem of the form \[ L_{\varepsilon }u=-\varepsilon ^{2}\Delta u+cu=f \in \Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^{d},\qquad d=2,3, u=0 \] on \(\partial \Omega ,\) where \(\Omega \) is a bounded polyhedral domain with an at least Lipschitzian boundary \(\partial \Omega \) and \(\varepsilon \in (0,1]\) is the diffusion parameter. The authors obtain a global discretization error estimation in energy norm which is uniformly valid with respect to the full range of \(\varepsilon.\)
