In this expository paper, the author proves the Banach-Tarski paradox, Laczkovich's criterion for a set to be uniformly spread [\textit{M. Laczkovich}, J. Reine Angew. Math. 404, 77-117 (1990; Zbl 0748.51017)], the equivalence of a notion of ``paradox'' with the notion ``of exponential growth'' for discrete subsets of \(\mathbb{R}^ n\), and states Laczkovich's celebrated circle squaring theorem.
