In Part I [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 334, 575-596 (1992; Zbl 0762.11022)] the authors have shown that the integral cohomology of the symplectic group \(\text{Sp}_ 4 (\mathbb{Z})\) of degree two may be expressed (via a Mayer- Victoris sequence) by the cohomology of the genus 2 mapping class group \(\Gamma^ 0_ 2\) and the wreath product of two copies of \(\text{SL}_ 2 (\mathbb{Z})\). Using this relationship and the knowledge of the integral cohomology of \(\Gamma^ 0_ 2\) by the work of \textit{D. J. Benson} and \textit{F. R. Cohen} [Mem. Am. Math. Soc. 90, No. 443 (1991; Zbl 0732.57003)] the authors give a complete description of \(H^* (\text{Sp}_ 4 (\mathbb{Z}), \mathbb{Z})\) as a graded abelian group.
