Let \(T\) denote an \(n\)-dimensional complex torus acting holomorphically on a compact complex manifold \(M\). Let \(T(x)\) denote the orbit of a point \(x \in M\). Theorem 1 says that a continuous map \(f : M \to T\) is homotopic to a holomorphic fibration whose fibres are transversal to the orbits if and only if rank \(f_ *(\pi_ 1(T(x)) = n\) and \(f^*(H_ c^{1,0} (T)) \subseteq H_ c^{1,0} (M)\) where \(H_ c^{1,0}\) denotes the space of closed (1,0)-forms. The proof is essentially an application of a result of the author in Lect. Notes Math. 1474, 183-192 (1991; Zbl 0739.57023). As an application it is shown that if \(M\) is in addition a Kähler manifold, then \(M\) is \(T\)-equivariantly biholomorphic to \(T \times M/T\) if and only if there is an appropriate splitting of \(\pi_ 1(M)\).
