Um die Summe der Potenzzahlen zu finden, benutzt der Verfasser eine Gleichung von der Form \[ n^p=(n)_p +a(n+1)_p+b(n+2)_p +\cdots (n+p-1)_p, \] wo die \((n_p), (n+1)_p\) etc. Binominalcoefficienten bedeuten. Die Coefficienten \(a,b\dots\) bestimmt er durch eine recurrentes Verfahren.
