The pointwise rates of convergence in the Birkhoff ergodic theorem in the case of an ergodic endomorphism can be arbitrarily slow. On the other hand, they cannot be arbitrarily fast. A rate of convergence faster than \(A_n =O(1/n)\) as \(n\to \infty \) on a set of positive measure is impossible. Let \(T\) be an endomorphism of the probability measure space. A criterion for the existence of the maximum possible rate for a given pair \((f, T)\) is due to \textit{A. G. Kachurovskii} and \textit{I. V. Podvigin} [Math. Notes 106, No. 1, 52--62 (2019; Zbl 1427.37004); translation from Mat. Zametki 106, No. 1, 40--52 (2019)]. The main goal of the present paper is to transfer these results from discrete time (i.e., the case of an endomorphism) to continuous time (i.e., the case of a semiflow). This is accomplished in Theorem 2 and its corollary on the maximum rate of convergence.
