Let \(A\) and \(B\) be linear \(m\)-sectorial operators (on a Hilbert space) generating the semigroups \(e^{tA}\) and \(e^{tB}\). The Trotter product of these semigroups converges strongly to the semigroup generated by \(A+B\) provided some compactness (or ``smallness'') conditions are met. \(A\) and \(B\) should not be selfadjoint.
