For an algebra \(L\), the derived \(\rho\)-Lie algebra \(L^-\) in a Yetter-Drinfeld category \(_H^H{\mathcal Y}{\mathcal D}\) was introduced in another paper by the author [Chin. Ann. Math., Ser. A 21, 547-552 (2000; Zbl 0980.16035)], such that \(\tau_{L, L}\) is symmetric on \(L\). The aim of this paper is to study the central invariants of the derived \(\rho\) Lie algebras in Yetter-Drinfeld categories. The main result is that when \(L^-\) is \(H\)-simple over a field of characteristic \(\neq 2\) and \(V\) is a \(\rho\)-Lie ideal of \([L^-,L^-]_\rho\) such that \([V_0,V]_\rho \subseteq Z_\rho (L^-)_0\), where \(V_0=\{a \in V:h\cdot a= \varepsilon (h)a\), for any \(h\in H\}\). Then \(V_0\subseteq Z_\rho (L^-)_0\), where \(Z_\rho(L^-)= \{l\in L^-:al= \sum(a_{(-1)}l) a_0\), for any \(a\in L^-\}\) the \(\rho\)-center of \(L^-\). That is, the subalgebra \(V_0\) of \(H\)-invariants of \(V\) is contained in the subalgebra \(Z_\rho(L^-)_0\) of \(H\)-invariants of the \(\rho\)-center of \(L^-\).
