The goal of this paper is to propose, in a more explicit form, a version of the Toda lattice hierarchy that is expected to be satisfied by the two point correlation functions of the \(\mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^1\) topological sigma model. This version of the Toda lattice hierarchy is expressed in bi-Hamiltonian formalism, and the recursion relations among the flows of the hierarchy are manifestly given by the bi-Hamiltonian structure. Moreover the author shows that this bi-Hamiltonian hierarchy is compatible with the Virasoro constraints of Eguchi-Hori-Xiong up to genus two approximation.
