The authors discuss various algorithms both for stability and performance analysis of discrete-time piecewise affine (PWA) systems. For stability, the authors consider different classes of Lyapunov functions and they show how to compute them through linear matrix inequalities with switching structure of the systems. In addition the authors show that the continuity of the Lyapunov function is not required in discrete time. By using arguments from the dissipative theory for nonlinear systems, the authors generalize their approach to analyze the gain of PWA systems.
