Most classification results for finite dimensional Hopf algebras concern the pointed or the semisimple case, and there is no conjecture about what the structure of a general finite dimensional Hopf algebra should be. In this survey article the author summarizes results on the classification of general low dimensional Hopf algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. The full classification is known up to dimension \(19\). Details are given for some particular cases, and the corresponding methods are discussed.
