The author considers generalizations to harmonic maps, where the Dirichlet integral is replaced by \(E= \int_M \int_0^{Q(du)} \varrho(s)\, ds\, dM\); here \(du\) is a differential of the map \(u: M\to N\), both \(M\) and \(N\) are Riemannian manifolds and \(\varrho\) is a \(C^{1,\alpha}\) function of \(Q\) satisfying certain structural assumptions. Under these assumptions, the author proves for the corresponding Euler--Lagrange equation a generalization of the \(L^\infty\) estimates valid for the \(p\)-Laplace equation outside the origin. In the next part, the removability of a priori singularities for this equation and its generalizations is considered.
