The authors discuss numerical solution of elliptic boundary value problems in irregularly shaped domains in the plane. They partition the region in a set of several blocks; each block is transformed to the unit space by a smooth or isoparametric mapping. Numerical examples are related to the Laplace, Poisson, and Helmholtz equations.
