This note offers some comments on intuitionistic fuzzy sets as originally introduced by Atanas\-sov. An essential point being raised here concerns some modifications to the existing terminology that could be considered in order to avoid the explicit use of the term ``intuitionistic'' while retaining the essence of the original construct. Next, a matter of interpretability of intuitionistic sets is discussed along with their semantics and the role of them in the framework of modeling preferences. Some observations are also made with regard to the concept of shadowed sets as a vehicle of modeling uncertainty.
