Let \(X_ p\) denote a linear subspace of \(L^ p(\Omega,\mu)\), where \(\Omega\subset C\) and \(\mu\) is a positive measure on \(\Omega\), and \(BX_ p\) is the closed unit ball of \(X_ p\). Let \(v=(v_ 1,\dots,v_ n)\) denote \(n\) given linear forms on \(X_ p\). The authors study the following extremal problem (`` recovery'' of a linear form \(L\) on \(BX_ p\)): \[ E(L,v,X_ p(-\inf_ S \sup_{f\in BX_ p}| L(f)- S(v(f))|, \] where \(S\) is any function \(S: C^ n\to C\) (called a ``method''). For any \(1\leq p\leq\infty\), they solve this problem for a certain class of linear forms \(L\) through an explicit extremal method \(S\) and corresponding extremal \(f\). Most of the paper is devoted to analyzing some special cases.
