McCalliq rationals are quotients of polynomials of fixed finite degree defined on a compact interval or finite set. The denominator is bounded away from zero and has a constant term equal one. This paper discusses the existence of best uniform approximation by such functions. The standard techniques and examples from classical rational approximation are adapted to this variation.
