The authors analyze a cylindrical crack at the interface around a single fibre embedded in an infinite matrix. Axisymmetric load is applied in radial direction, and the variation of interface material is modelled by its subdivision into several layers with constant properties. Fourier transform of the equilibrium condition leads to solutions in terms of modified Bessel functions. Displacement differences at the crack surfaces are expanded into series to satisfy the boundary conditions. Additionally, the authors determine the stress intensity factors when the interface layer thickness approaches zero.
