Let \(A\) be an Artin algebra. The classical Auslander-Reiten correspondence provides a bijection between the isomorphism classes of basic tilting \(A\)-modules and certain covariantly finite coresolving (resp. contravariantly finite resolving) subcategories in the category of \(A\)-modules [see \textit{M.~Auslander} and \textit{I.~Reiten}, Adv. Math. 86, No. 1, 111-152 (1991; Zbl 0774.16006)]. The present paper extends this correspondence to the so-called ``tilting pairs''. A pair \((C,T)\) of \(A\)-modules is called a `tilting pair' provided that both \(C\) and \(T\) are finitely generated and self-orthogonal, \(T\) has a finite resolution by modules from \(\text{add}(C)\), and \(C\) has a finite coresolution by modules from \(\text{add}(T)\). For a fixed \(C\) the main result of the paper describes a bijection between the isomorphism classes of those \(T\) for which \((C,T)\) is a tilting pair and certain relative covariantly finite and coresolving (resp. contravariantly finite and resolving) subcategories.
