For each Hausdorff space \(X\), the authors construct a 2-groupoid whose objects are the points of \(X\) and whose morphisms are equivalence classes of paths in \(X\) under a relation called thin relative homotopy. There is an isomorphism between the 2-endomorphism group of \(\langle f\rangle\) and the second homotopy group of \(X\) based at the initial point of the path \(f\). The case of function spaces is studied in detail.
