One considers an accretive and demicontinuous operator T on a Banach space with uniformly convex dual. The existence of a solution for the equation \(Tx=0\) is assured by the existence of a point z in the domain of definition such that on the boundary, T is not of the form \(\alpha\) (x-z) with \(\alpha\) a negative constant. The proof is strongly related to previous results of the author. Other ''boundary conditions'' in terms of the duality mapping drive via the above theorem to extend or reobtain previous results of Browder and Kartsatos.
