Let \(K\) be an algebraic number field of degree \([K:\mathbb{Q}]=m\). For an ideal \({\mathfrak a}\) of \(K\), let \(P({\mathfrak a})\) denote the maximum of norms of prime ideals \({\mathfrak p}\) dividing \({\mathfrak a}\), and let \(\Psi_ K(x,y)\) denote the number of integral ideals \({\mathfrak a}\) of \(K\) such that \(N{\mathfrak a}\leq x\), \(P({\mathfrak a})\leq y\). In the paper the well-known results of \textit{N. G. de Bruijn} [Indagationes, Math. 28, 239--247 (1966; Zbl 0139.27203)] and \textit{A. Hildebrand} [J. Number Theory 22, 289--307 (1986; Zbl 0575.10038)] on \(\psi(x,y)=\psi_ \mathbb{Q}(x,y)\) are generalized to \(\Psi_K(x,y)\). The generalized theorems have much the same form as those in the rational case with the Dickman-de Bruijn function in the main term. In carrying out generalizations, the Mitsui-Sokolovskij prime ideal theorem is used along with some methods of Rankin, Hildebrand et al. and some delicate estimate manipulations.
