The authors analyze a smoothing strategy for a multigrid-type algorithm applied to second-order nonselfadjoint elliptic problems. Their strategy is based on Hermitian/skew-Hermitian splitting iteration (HSS). They prove convergence of the corresponding multigrid algorithm with HSS relaxation, under the assumption that the mesh size of the coarsest grid is sufficiently small.
