This paper is devoted to the study of partition functions of 3-dimensional \(\mathcal{N}=2\) \(U(n)\) gauge theories on compact manifolds of a certain type. This corresponds to a wide class of Yang-Mills-Chern-Simmons unitary quiver gauge theories. An important aspect within these theories is the so-called supersymmetric localization, a technique that allows the description of non-perturbative gauge dynamics [\textit{V. Pestun}, Commun. Math. Phys. 313, No. 1, 71--129 (2012; Zbl 1257.81056)]. The main result of the paper is the proof of the existence of an universal algebraic structure, called \(q\)-Virasoro modular double, underlying the supersymmetric sector of these theories. The results are discussed in the context of 4d supersymmetric theories, where they have potential application, as well as in the context of 5d theories. The impressive list of references provides a rather complete overview on the current status of the topic.
