This paper is devoted to the Boltzmann equation of semiconductors, which is the basic equation of the kinetic model of semiconductors. The author shows that the method used by \textit{P. Degond} [Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér., IV. Sér. 19, 519-542 (1986; Zbl 0619.35087)] to prove the existence of a solution of the Vlasov-Fokker-Planck equation is also applicable to the Boltzmann equation of semiconductors, where nonlinear integral operators are included. The method is used to obtain global existence in time and uniqueness for dimensions 1 and 2. For dimension 3 only local existence in time and uniqueness are proved.
