The author considers an integro-differential equation modeling the deformation of materials with memory. In a paper by \textit{F. Colombo} et al. [Math. Methods Appl. Sci. 28, No. 17, 2085--2115 (2005; Zbl 1095.35065)] the global existence of the direct problem was proved. In this paper, the author starts from the previous result and considers the inverse problem. More precisely, it is exibited an explicit procedure to reconstruct the memory, the source terms and the diffusion constant by two observations only. We remark that in the paper by F. Colombo, D. Guidetti and V. Vespri, it has been already proved that the uniqueness of the inverse problem follows from two observations only, but no explicit reconstruction procedure has been given.
